Zoom Pro, Business and Enterprise: which plan is right for you?

Business people working at laptops

On the surface, Zoom's three main plans look very similar: they all include video meetings, team chat and a whiteboard. The difference lies in capacity, storage and management features. There are two ways to choose the wrong plan: buy one that is too small and hit a wall at your first big meeting, or buy one that is bigger than you need and pay for features you never use.

In this article we put the three plans side by side and explain which one makes sense in which situation. The plan information comes from the Pro, Business and Enterprise pages on our site and from Zoom's current pricing page.

The three plans at a glance

Prices are Zoom's list prices for annual billing ($14.16 and $18.33 per user per month) and are per licence. With the Large Meeting add-on, the number of participants can be raised to 1,000. Because installation, hardware and training are planned separately, we confirm the exact amount during the quote process.

Pro: for teams and small businesses

Pro is a sufficient starting point for teams that run daily meetings. It can host meetings of up to 100 people, group meetings can last up to 30 hours, and it offers 10 GB of cloud recording per licence.

Pro makes sense if one of these applies to you:

  • The vast majority of your meetings have fewer than 100 people.
  • Bringing your company brand into the meeting experience is not a priority for you.
  • You do not need to keep recordings in the cloud for very long.

If you occasionally hold an event of more than 100 people, consider the Large Meeting add-on instead of moving the whole team to a higher plan: the number of participants can go up to 1,000.

Business: for growing companies

In addition to everything in Pro, Business brings meetings of up to 300 people, single sign-on (SSO), managed domains, recording transcripts and company branding. It is designed for small and medium-sized businesses.

The real reasons for moving to Business are usually these:

  1. Meetings now often exceed 100 people.
  2. You need corporate tools such as single sign-on (SSO), recording transcripts and branding to manage teams.
  3. You want to reflect the company's identity in meetings held in front of customers.

Enterprise: for large organisations

In addition to all the features of Business, Enterprise offers meetings of up to 1,000 participants, unlimited cloud storage and a Webinar for 500 participants. It is the plan to choose if you need a large number of licences or need to keep your recordings without restriction.

There is no price list for Enterprise; we put together a quote based on your needs after talking to the sales team. This is often an advantage rather than a drawback: the licence, hardware and installation can be planned as a single package.

Three questions to help you decide

If you cannot answer these questions clearly, first count your meetings for a month: how many meetings are held, how many people attend the biggest one, and which ones are recorded? The numbers you have will largely make the choice of plan for you.

For large events, also look at Zoom Webinar; if you will be presenting one way to a large audience, a webinar plan may be a more suitable tool than a meeting plan. For general selection criteria, you can read our video conferencing system selection guide.
